Heung-min Son gives Tottenham the win over West Ham

The Korean scored Tottenham’s second goal of the game in a 2-0 win over West Ham, following Emerson Royal’s opener in the London derby

The victory puts Tottenham ahead of Newcastle, albeit with a game in hand, but it is back in the top four in the English Premier League, and that will be a big boost for Conte, who was absent from Tottenham Hotspur due to his early return from gallbladder surgery and his need for time to rest

In his place on the touchline was assistant Christian Stellini, who captained the side, without Son, as last season’s top scorer in the Premier League faced a much more difficult campaign, making way for a record £60m signing of Richarlison, with Stellini explaining the call

He said before the match: “Antonio, Ryan Mason and I made the decision because we have a big team, we have to make decisions, and today we want to use energy, we have played many matches with Sony and this match may be the time to host Sony during the match

The last time Tottenham dispensed Son was in September against Leicester, he responded with a hat-trick after coming off the bench. Son now has four goals as a substitute, a division-best record, while he has now scored nine goals in 30 appearances in all competitions
