The mentality of a champion.. Lamin Yamal admits: "I will win the Golden Ball"

The Spanish talent and the star of FC Barcelona "Lamin Yamal" opened his heart in a lengthy dialogue with the Guardian newspaper, speaking with unusual sincerity about the scenes of his amazing career, and the details of the human dialogue he had with the legendary Lionel Messi after the end of the historic World Cup final confrontation between Spain and Argentina, which the matador decided in his favor with Ferran Torres ' goal.
Describing his meeting with the Tango captain, Yamal said: "I thanked Messi after the end of the match for all he gave to this game, I don't do things just to look good in front of everyone, but that attitude came from inside me".
The young star also touched on the famous shot that collected him with Messi as an infant about 17 years ago, explaining that he personally imposed a ban on its circulation for a long time. ""My father posted this photo on Facebook before, but I asked him to delete it, comparisons are very easy, but I wanted to be Lamin Yamal, and I didn't want to become Messi, I just wanted to reach the maximum I could reach, I asked my father to wait until I become what I am now and with my independent personality to do what he wants and publish this photo,""he said.
Yamal did not hide his boundless ambition about major individual awards, stressing that he is sure of being crowned with the Golden Ball award for a long time or short, as he stated: "my performance will not only be enough to get the Golden Ball this year, but for a longer period, everyone understands what I am capable of doing and they know that I am a player who makes a difference, I think people are thinking, saying to a 19-year-old Lamin, he will win this award at some point, so let's choose someone else, I have to win and I will get the Golden Ball sooner or later, and there will be people who love me, who will say that I am an annoying person and this is absolutely normal,"he said.
As for how he deals with the public and media pressures, the player revealed that the poverty and difficulties he experienced in his childhood with his family made any sporting pressure seem easy, explaining: "there are times when I really enjoy the pressure, I like to play when expectations are high towards me, but there is another type of pressure that has nothing to do with what people say or football, it's the pressure of life, sometimes I sit at home and say that I played badly, or I didn't get the Golden Ball or we didn't win the league".
"In the end, it's about feeling responsible, I suffered and struggled next to my family, we lived through difficult times, and now we enjoy what we have achieved, if I have played football all these years, it's because I love it, but also for them, I realize that there is something bigger in life and I have to take care of my family and my younger brother,"he added.
"There is no place for fear in football, I saw my mother suffer, so that I could play football, I saw my father roaming the streets collecting scrap metal so that I could eat, this is the real fear, but now, if I had a son, I would be able to take care of him, and if my parents needed anything, I could help them, I got rid of that fear, the only fear that could have ever haunted me in life,"he continued.
About his unique style on the green carpet, Yamal believes that he owes his talent to an exceptional combination that combined the skills of the streets of popular neighborhoods and the disciplined tactical basis within the walls of the La Masia academy, explaining: "Barcelona gave me a lot, and there I gained the skill of controlling the ball, understanding the game, and football intelligence, but this is not present in playing in the streets and public squares, where".
Yamal concluded his speech, stressing that his constant motivation is the joy of playing and the joy of the fans, as he feels a miraculous energy that fills his soul as soon as his feet touch the ball, saying: "I love football and I don't play for money, but because I love this game, players obsessed with scoring goals or making them don't really enjoy playing, I play for fun, for dribbling, playing with one or two touches, helping a colleague who can't score, I play in order to bring happiness to the fans, that's what I play for, and that's what I play for, and what makes me happy".
"When the ball reaches me, the fans are waiting for me, as happened at the World Cup or when I play at Camp Nou, where everyone understands that I will run to try to dodge the opponent, and these things can only be experienced in football, specifically when there is a player like me, as you have an inner feeling that gives you strength beyond anyone else's strength, and I hope that this feeling will accompany me until the day I retire, where I have a state of enthusiasm that makes me feel like Superman,"he added.
